ARTIST´S STATEMENT
After working for 10 years in Trade and Industry, in 1990, I decided
to make works of art and to become an artist.
In order to understand the meaning and importancy of Contemporary Art,
I studied history of art for 4 years, from 1990 untill 1994.
Also, in that particular time, I have been working together with another artist from
Utrecht, who was my teacher, in order to obtain the necessary skills
in drawing, painting, etching, a.o. and to develop my own “picture language”.
My admiration is for the narrative art and technical proficiency of REMBRANDT,
especially because of the briljant light/dark aspect in his work, for the renacence artist
“MICHELANGELO”, because of his briljant colours and for the baroque art of RUBENS,
because of his phenomenal compositions.
More modern artists who I admire, because of the dramatic aspect in their work,
are ANSELM KIEFER, ENZO CUCCHI and SIGMAR POLKE.
DESCRIPTION OF MY WORK OF ART
Since it is not my intention to create “true reality”, but to provoke a certain
atmosphere and emotion, both figurative as well as abstract elements,
play an important role in my work.
DECLARACIÓN DEL ARTISTA
Después de trabajar 10 años en Industria y Negocios, en 1990,
he decidido de hacer obras de arte y de hacerse artista.
A f’in de comprender la intención y la importancia de Arte Contemporáneo,
he estudiado la historia de arte para 4 años, desde hace 1990 a 1994.
También, en el mísmo período, he trabajado con otro artista de Utrecht,
quién fuera mi profesor, con el objeto de adquirir las habilidades
necesarias a fín de hacer dibujos, pinturas, aguafuertes, e.o. y lo más importante,
de desarrollar mi propia “lengua picturala”.
Mi admiración es para el arte narrativo y las habilidades técnicas de REMBRANDT,
especialmente para el aspecto luminoso y obscuro en sus obras,
para el artista “MICHELANGELO” por causa de sus colores luminosos
y para el arte baroque de RUBENS, por razón de sus composiciones formidables.
Artistas más modernos que me gusto mucho, por razón del aspecto dramático
en sus obras, son ANSELM KIEFER, ENZO CUCCHI y SIGMAR POLKE.
DESCRIPCION DE LAS OBRAS
Puesto que, no tengo la intención de crear “la verdad realista”, pero evocar una esfera
cierta y un sentimiento muy especial, tanto elementos figurativos como elementos
abstractos, hacen importantísimo papel en mis obras.
